ECON 2210 [0.5 credit] Introductory Statistics for Economics


Basic statistical methods for the study of economics. Topics include descriptive statistics, elementary probability theory, sampling distributions, estimation and hypothesis testing for one and two population parameters.
Precludes additional credit for BIT 2000, BIT 2009, DATA 1517, ENST 2006, GEOG 2006, STAT 2507, STAT 2601, STAT 2606, and STAT 3502.
Prerequisite(s): ECON 1401 (with a grade of C- or higher) and ECON 1402, (or equivalent department-approved MATH course pair). May be taken concurrently with ECON 1402.
Lectures three hours a week, tutorials one and a half hours a week.

Note : ECON 4908 [1.0] Honours Essay may be written by students with Overall and Major CGPAs of 9.50 or higher. In cases where a grade of B- or higher is earned on this essay, it may replace the ECON 4905 requirement together with an ECON elective requirement.
